Somerhill Bluefaced Leicester Ewes

Somerhill Belle I don't have a good picture of Belle - I guess I thought she would live forever.  In a way, she will - her blood runs through the veins of the ewes on this page, as well as in the background of several of the sires we've used over the past few years.  Belle was out of Firth

365E, and sired by Blacklock River John, and was from the first generation of BFLs born on our farm near Somerset, Ohio.  Like her sire, she was a tall, big framed, well fleshed ewe that raised her lambs without assistance, and consistantly produced lambs better than herself.   This picture was taken when she was nine, and then we lost her suddenly to pneumonia.  At the time of her death, she was still in good flesh and had all her teeth, so likely would have continued producing well for another year or more.
