Bluefaced Leicesters
Some of our 18 ewe lambs retained this year, being bred to Somerhill Jedburgh for midApril lambs

2007 was the "Year of the BFL".  There was the  first ever breed show at the Black Sheep Gathering in June; culminating in October at Rhinebeck with  the first National Bluefaced Leicester show in the US with nearly 70 entries!!!
There were special wool, yarn, and garment classes at Rhinebeck, as the BFL was also their featured breed.

Just wait until 2008!   Big plans are in the making for the Estes Park Show in Colorado!
Somerhill has been breeding BFLs since 1995, and currently is one of the larger flocks in the U.S.  We are a founding member of BLU,  the BFL registry.

Our flock has tested OPP negative since 1999, is footrot free, and we are enrolled in the scrapie certification program.   (OH31)
All of our herd sires as well as most of our ewesare %UK bloodlines,
as we have been using artificial insemination to improve our breeding stock
as well as to expand our flock genetics.
We have ewes and rams available from the four  original imports
(Jamie, Laird, Loyalty, and Ebony Boy)
We used semen from Barleas Titus and Carry House 281/R1 this fall,
and hold  Beeston Titan  semen for later use.
You can see pictures of these rams at the BFL breeders promotion association
