Somerhill Farm
Bluefaced Leicester Sheep, French and Satin Angora Rabbits
Entry for June 21, 2008
We just got in from worming the BFL flock. This is the first worming

of the year, and I'm pleased with the FAMACHA scores of the ones we

checked. We went ahead and wormed all the ewes and lambs since they

will be waaaaaaaayyyyy out at the corner of the farm for a few weeks

and we don't want to have to bring them in to do scoring for a while.

We are using Prohibit this year.

We weaned the April lambs (from the yearlings) and boosted their CD&T

vaccinations. They'll get moved across the road and kept in "the sheep barn" for a few days to introduce them to grain before they get released to

graze again.

We wormed the March born AI lambs with Valbazen because we'd been

seeing some tapes in their droppings. I've got to weigh a couple of

the ram lambs - the one that was 62# on May 11th has got to be 80# or

more now. I cannot imagine picking him up, let alone carrying him

across the road like we did last month! :^)
